Inspiration for the Day...

Why does everyone feel the need to try and be unique?!

We are all unique. We are all individual, and we are all completely different to our closest twin. Why then, does everyone feel the need to go out of their way to stand out from the crowd by doing the only thing everyone seems to be doing?! You can dye your hair every fluorescent shade you can think of, but if everyone else is doing it then whats the point? You can try and express your individuality, but if you do the same thing  as everything else you're just as boring as the rest of us! There doesn't need to be outward display of your 'wild side' for everyone to see that you're not a black and white character, because no one is! Don't try and break out from the crowd by following the sheep, because life doesn't work like that. We aren't the same person and we never will be, but surely following trends is making you blend in more than if you were just your self and didn't feel like you had keep trying to be different. Nobody's perfect. Nobody will every be perfect. There's no point destroying your hair with straighteners, adding 6inches to your face with make up and injecting every possible follicle with silicon to appear perfect, because you will never have a perfect soul so why try so hard?
You are you, no one is like you and no one will ever be like you. You are the closest you will ever be to perfect last thing at night and first thing in the morning. Embrace who you are, and not who you wish you could be, or who you think you should be. Wear heels if you want, and get dressed up, but don't mutilate your body ruin your hair or spend hundreds of pounds that you don't have on designer clothes just to be 'unique'. We are all unique and we are all individual. Just the way we are. Please don't ever forget that.

Food for thought.

Have you ever wondered how many strangers have pictures of family days out hanging in their lounge or bedroom with pictures of you in the background? Or how holding the door open for someone can alter their whole perspective of life for the day? What a 'god morning' text can do to someone? Or what someone might think of you..really think of you? Or which keepsakes someone might keep to remember the impact you had on their life? Or how one thing you might have said to somebody could have been altered and changed in such a way that it resembles nothing to the original?
The truth is we have no control on life, we can't change what makes us happy, or sad, or emotional. We can't change what people think of us, or how we make people feel. Life's too short to consistently complain about everything and anything, to get down by the little things, or to break our hearts over what seem like the big things at the time. We can only be ourselves, try and be as happy as possible, make an impact on someones life, in a good way, and hope for the best. Life's a bitch, but that doesn't give you the right to be. And that's meant in the nicest way possible!

Well that was interesting...!

When you wake up in the morning and are too afraid to move your head, in case the hangover from hell ensues, you know you've had a good night.
So.. Easter Sunday, had lunch with the step family (pass the wine) then had to go to work for 4 hours and finally got home at half nine to my sister demanding I go out with her, (well it wasn't quite that severe...I wanted to really). The taxi was due to arrive in 5 minutes, and I really can't express how much of a state I looked after work, and need more than 20 minutes to get ready in the best of times. So while I was desperately getting into the first dress I saw and scraping some make up onto my face, my sister was ringing my best friend to find me some id. Thanks to the best friend in the world, that little problem was solved and a £20 taxi ride later, we made it into the Wu town for my first night out.
We started in Courtyard, walked straight in without being asked for id, and were greeted by a floor covered, and I mean covered in sand. God knows why. We headed straight for the bar, where we were met by a friend of my sister's who bought us a round of cocktails..which were lush! Several cocktails later, a round or two of shots, and several hugs from strangers (or in other words, my sisters friends) and we left Courtyard a little tipsier and with no cash left, so we headed straight to the nearest cash point where several tangoed crayolas were using the ATM. A lovely homeless man was sat there who we got chatting to while waiting for the crayolas to finish..such a shame he was homeless...
After retrieving funds, we headed straight to mode 'cause we were given free entry tickets from a man wearing an a-frame, and I still didn't get id'd. Again we headed straight to the bar and waited a full 20 minutes while the bar tender (who clearly thought he was the coolest person alive) made our cocktails.. they weren't even that difficult to make, I could have done it in half the time.. while reading the instructions..drunk..in heels. Still, they too were fairly gorgeous cocktails!
And finally, we ended up in Tramps, where only the high life of  Worcester end up! We bought a fish bowl, and headed outside to meet the shortest soldier I have ever met, who persistently tried to hit on my sister.. entertaining to say the least, considering she's a giant. And apparently succeeded while I was trying to make it to the toilets, around the mass of girls taking pictures of themselves in the mirrors. Classy I know.
When I came back, I was greeted with some ..gorgeous guys talking to my sister, she knew them from somewhere, but they were really cool, and took us inside to dance.. and that's what we did..mostly. God only knows where my sister went but me and .. lets call him ..Kyle..started dancing, and tried to hold a conversation..but when that was proved to fail due to the noise, we.. did something else. He was nice!
After our encounter, my sister came and robbed me of the pleasure  and we ended up in Maccie D's for a hangover-reducing, pre-bed meal, and headed home..she was too drunk to stand, it was only fair on the population of Worcester.
So, just to recap, got ready in 5 minutes, met someone (who said I looked gorgeous, in case you were wondering) had more than my fair share of alcohol, didn't get asked for the fake id I had, and didn't have a hangover.
Now that's what I call a good night!

Love. Poetry. Perfection.

This is why I love English Literature, and Shakespeare.

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm's
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance or nature's changing course untrimm'd
But thy eternal summer shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou growest:
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this and gives life to thee

Beautiful.

Scandal in the Mafia!

Before I go into all the gory details, let me just clarify something. The Mafia is my family...it's just that big!
So at a Mother's Day Dinner with my grandparents, I sit next to my Nan, the wine if flowing and everyone, except for my mum's foul-face Monster-In-Law, was fairly merry.
Then the stories started.
My Grandad  was dating a woman called Jaquie when he was 20, and proposed to her. While she was away on holiday, before their wedding, I guess it was a type of Hen Weekend (although this was 40 years ago) he went to a bar with some friends, as there were Go-Go Dancers (today's equivalent of pole dancers.) One of the dancers at the end of the show went to talk to my Grandad and he bought her a fair few drinks, and they both got a little bit intimate, and ended up back at my Grandad's house. Needless to say sexual acts ensued. And the mystery Go-Go Dancer left in the morning without leaving her number (they didn't have phones.)
The next week, my Grandad returned to the bar, to find the mystery Dancer awaiting him. He thought his luck was in, he dumped his fiance, in what I'm sure was a considerate fashion (not) and him and the Dancer (my Nan) made plans to be wed. Unfortunately for them, though, my Nan was pregnant (shock horror!) and due to the morality of the times, the wedding was pushed forward by 4 months(!!!) so my Nan wouldn't walk down the isle with a baby, telling friends and family it was because they could move into their house sooner than expected(who seriously believed them?!). She did have a bump though. And that bump was my Mum, who's GODMOTHER is the scorned woman my Grandad dumped oh so lovingly for another woman. Who was pregnant. With his baby. Scandalous!
What still astounds me though, is the fact that my Nan (the Go-Go Dancer) can tell me that I'm not allowed a tattoo. Sometimes I feel like turning round ans replying; 'Am I allowed to pole dance though?!' and see how she likes them apples!!

MichaelAngelo was a genius!
